Zoo signage and tour guide talks are often not personalized, lack interaction, and don’t hold kids’ attention for long.

About 60% of children who were at the zoo had not positive educational outcomes.
What if...
A wearable zoo camera that seamlessly reveals playful learning facts on screen as kids explore.

Simultaneously captures their entire journey into a meaningful video they can revisit and share.

When our main character—Maya—goes to the zoo with her parents, she puts on Peek.

She pulls out the retractable rope to adjust the length. The rope stays to the side, never blocking the screen or camera.

Maya points the camera at the animal and
scrolls the side button to zoom in for a clearer view.

Learning facts appear on-screen, personalized to what she’s seeing.

Rotate Peek to switch into game mode with animal games and sound effects.

There’s also a built-in receiver, so Maya can listen to animal stories for a deeper learning experience.

The slightly textured sides make it easy and comfortable for her to hold.

Peek is equipped with a 3-axis gimbal, so even while Maya is walking or running, her footage stays stabe.
Peek captures her whole journey and turns it into a personalized memory video after the visit.

The kid can replay, learn from, and share with her family and friend.

The next part covers the design process

1. Positioning the retractable strap so it doesn’t block the camera or screen.
Prototyping through 3D prints allowed me to evaluate ergonomics, playful interactions, and functional feasibility early in the process. These tests revealed key design challenges, including:
2. Developing protective form for the gimbal
3. Designing playful, intuitive interactions with buttons and the display
